About Me

I've been designing gardens since 2008, but I've been passionate about plants and gardens for as long as I can remember. A distinction in horticulture from the RHS was followed by a distinction in design from the English Gardening School were I learnt that landscape design can be as satisfying as Maths. Although there isn't just one answer it is a jigsaw puzzle of construction materials, level changes, micro-climate, mood, flow etc. and you know when everything clicks into place. It's ultimately so rewarding to tie it all together and create something beautiful.

Nature and concern for the environment are other passions of mine, and for a number of years I've been experimenting in my own garden with ways to make the gardens I plant the best I can for wildlife. Then in 2019 I had an epiphany; I started to record the insects that came to my garden and realised that you don't just get 'bees' you get carder bees, yellow-face bees, mason bees, mining bees, leafcutter bees and so on. I became aware of a whole new layer of enjoyment in addition to colour and fragrance and realised that not only do I have a responsibility to try to support our amazing native wildlife but I would never want to be in a garden without the hum of insect life. A list of the species recorded can be found here.
