Burbage Rd

This garden presented a quite specific problem, in that the last half of the garden is dominated by a large horse chestnut which sucks the moisture out of the soil, and casts a lot of shade for some of the year. The client wanted neat and tidy planting in subtle, soft colours, and to break up the length of the garden without creating a screen.
The main challenge in this project was to marry the client's love of curves to the strongly angular shape of the rear of the house. The diagonal beds divide the garden on an East-West axis, to provide a face-on display from the conservatory, and do not interfere with the West facing view from the evening drinks bench.
